I had every intention of making these as Christmas presents, but, alas, I did not get around to. BUT, thanks to my hairbrained idea to make something EVERY day, I have managed to finally make these darling Oven Mits & Potholders. Read on for the How-To and for details on my GIVEAWAY!
I started with these very plain mits and potholders that I found at Ikea. Mits: $1 each, potholders: $0.50 each.
For supplies, I used scrap fabric from last year’s Easter dress, two buttons I found in my stash ($1 each), needle and thread. For the ruffle version, you will need a sewing machine. If you don’t know how to sew…I know someone who can help you with that!
For the button pair, I just chose where I wanted the button and sewed it on. It took me less than 5 minutes. Awesome.
For the Ruffled pair, I made the ruffles, attached them with my machine and then hand sewed a covered button in the center. This pair took about 15 minutes.
I am just loving these little sets….perfect for yourself, hostess gifts, housewarming gifts, birthdays, weddings, etc. And SO SO SO ridiculously CHEAP…oh, I am salivating here. I gotta get myself in the kitchen but what to make? I’ve already made something today!
AND NOW FOR THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT….
I”m going to do a GIVEAWAY this week. Leave me a comment about something that you are making This Week. I will randomly choose a winner on Friday from all the comments. The winner can pick the Four Leaf Clover Ring OR either oven set! Happy DIYing!

So cute! This week, I’m taking wooden dowels, cutting them into thirds, and painting them different shades of green. Then, I’m cutting felt into petal shapes, and gluing them to one end of the dowel. My goal is to form a super-cute, woolly felt rose for valentine’s day! Perfect, because they’ll last forever (and my husband doesn’t buy me enough flowers!) Haha!
I plan on stitching around each petal in a zig-zag in a contrast color for extra cuteness!
I am going to be making Duvet covers for the girls crib blankets that came in their crib sets.
Me cook pretty one day. I love you so much. (And Sedaris too!)
