I may have to reintroduce myself to y’all… it’s ME!!! You know… the girl who pretends she has a blog but forgets to actually blog… remember me???
Anyway, now that I have a functioning computer (albeit a MAC that I am completely a stranger to), I think I’ll be able to get this machine going again. And I’d like to start by showing you what I recently did in my daughters’ room.
I have been really really really wanting to use removable wallpaper somewhere. ANYWHERE! I chose Ellie and Rosamund’s room so I could pick a really girlie print. Well…. despite my deepest longings.. it’s just not in my budget. At all. Like, don’t-even-pretend-ever kind of not in my budget.
Soooooo…. you can probably guess what I reverted to…. OR, just read the title: FABRIC!!!! (and I do apologize to all the SIRS out there… it just seemed a little cooler to say ma’am than sir…love you and mean it though)
I started with this little gem of a wall… don’t judge, we’re still moving in. I mean, really, it’s only been 10 months!
Anyway, it’s that little crooked wall that I’ve been dying to hang up wallpaper. But I decided that maybe since i have about 836 yards of fabric in my stash, maybe I could use fabric…
AND IT WORKED!!!
I LOVE IT!!!
Seriously y’all – all I used was thumbtacks. Yes, you read that right. Those simple little CHEAP thingies people use in offices.
I literally just ripped the fabric to be the length and width I needed. Then, starting from the top, pushed thumbtacks in the wall. I didn’t measure anything else. The whole thing took about 20 minutes and cost probably about $200 less than wallpaper. SCORE!
Doesn’t that thumbtack look lovely next to this Amy Butler Midwest Modern fabric???
I left the side (vertical) edges raw. I’m hoping that will a little humidity the edges will roll up and become a little more rugged.
I couldn’t reach all the way to the top, so if you squint you can see that my thumbtacks don’t go all the way into the wall. Bid deal, right!?
Once I get the other walls figured out, this is going to be a really fun room. Stay tuned for that sometime in the next 10 months. =)
Cost: Fabric – $8/yd, I used 3 yards. Thumbtacks – who cares, cheap! Let’s say $25
Time: 20 minutes
I am now signing off so I can roam around my house looking for other walls to cover with fabric!!!
